Dr Hieu Tran – Clinical Psychologist

I have a heartfelt commitment to supporting families, young people and adults on their journey towards improved well-being. With a passion to understand why we do things and a genuine desire to support people during critical life stages, I have devoted my professional life to fostering growth.

I have experience working with families and individuals (ages 13 plus) who struggled with:

– Depression, low mood and a lack of enthusiasm
– Anxiety, worries and stress management
Trauma
– Emotional dysregulation
– Difficulties navigating and adjusting to life transitions
– Academic concerns

My approach is the integration of evidence-based therapeutic modalities. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps us see how thoughts, emotions, and actions are linked, so we can work towards different ways of seeing things. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) focuses on mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness to help us through intense emotions and develop healthier coping strategies. Also,
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is woven into my practice, encouraging you to embrace your values.

Creating a safe, open, and fair space is central to my work. I strongly believe in respecting everyone’s unique identities and experiences. Each person I work with has their own story, shaped by various factors. I’m committed to making a secure, inclusive space where we can openly explore how your identity, experiences, and well-being connect. I am a first-generation New Zealand born Vietnamese cis-male who moved to Melbourne in 2023, a LGBTQIAP+ ally and deeply value the importance of diversity. I hope with this understanding I am able to create a space to meet your needs and goals.
