🔹 Step 1: Visit Your Paediatrician If you’re concerned about your child’s emotional, behavioural, or developmental challenges, the first step is often to visit your paediatrician. Paediatricians are skilled in assessing a wide range of childhood issues and can determine if a psychologist’s support would be beneficial.

🔹 Step 2: Referral to a Psychologist If your paediatrician believes psychological support is needed, they will provide a referral. This referral allows your child to access psychological services, and it may be necessary to access Medicare rebates under the Better Access initiative. This means that, with a valid referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) prepared by your paediatrician, you can receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year with a psychologist.

🔹 Step 3: Booking an Appointment with Foundation Psychology Melbourne Once you have your referral, you can contact us to book an appointment with one of our experienced paediatric psychologists. Please ensure you bring the referral letter and the Mental Health Care Plan if applicable) to your first session, as this helps us understand your child’s needs and ensures you can access Medicare rebates if eligible.

🔹 Ongoing Collaboration Our psychologists will work closely with your paediatrician, providing updates and collaborating on your child’s progress. This team-based approach ensures that your child receives the most effective, integrated care possible.
