Morgana Walker – Consultant Psychologist
As a psychologist working with children (5 years plus), adolescents and adults I believe that individuals have the capacity to live their best lives, but often struggle to find strategies to manage the difficulties we all inevitably encounter.
Our various roles provide challenges that we can conquer if we have the appropriate tools and confidence to try. Talking therapies offer the opportunity to gather our thoughts, hear them aloud, and attempt to devise a solution. We are our own problem-solvers, and sometimes it takes someone else to gently remind us of this fact.
My areas of expertise include:
– Anxiety & depression
– Stress Management & Relaxation
– Life/Personal coaching
– Life transition & Adjustment
– School Issues, including bullying
– Academic performance
– Cognitive Assessments
– Anger Management
– Assertiveness training
– Social skills training
– Grief & Loss
– Work Stress
– Workplace bullying
Before becoming a psychologist I spent many years as a teacher in both Independent and Catholic schools, as well as the Department of Education. I am skilled in Trauma-focused Counselling, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Psycho-Educational Assessment, Student Counselling, Parent-Teacher Communication and Advocacy. To date, I have worked in private practice, educational and clinical facilities with a Graduate Diploma of Psychology (Distinction) from RMIT University, and a Masters of Education (Special Education, Inclusion & Early Intervention).
I am a big picture, solution-focused practitioner, who is willing to take calculated risks to achieve best practice outcomes for the individual, family and/or organisation.
